First and foremost, I have to thank God for the patience we have endured ever since the Government imposed the ban last April 2016. This is exactly what I told all my members to be patient because we have to let the Government machineries handle this delicate matter on their own steam.
The Government knew many things which is totally unknown to us ordinary citizen and it is not right for us to raise too many objections. Now I am happy that our beloved Chief Minister has finally declared open the trade come Feb 1st, for it simply means that some serious negotiations that has earlier taken place are now over and it is safe to trade with our good neighbors, namely the Philippines and the Indonesians.
Of course along the way, there has been some collateral damages. Our members have lost a lot of monies, but it is okay. There will be time to make some recoveries. Over time, our trading practices will be enhanced and our modus operandi will be improvised to a next higher level.
The Government has invented new rules and regulations pertaining to the trade and existing members are encourage to check and observe the new requirements. All these are designed to make the trade more appropriate and safe for all concerned.
May I take this opportunity to thank Datuk Seri Musa Hj Aman, our Sabah Chief Minister and all members of the State security team for their unselfish devotion towards handling the situation for they have ventured into a new unchartered playing field which there has never been here before, all for the sake of making Sabah a safer place to live and to trade.
