It was a pleasure meeting you in Surabaya and I thank you very much for the interest you have extended concerning this matter.
First and foremost, the BIMPEAGA Business Council would like to thank our Malaysian Government for the RM8.3 million allocation you have recently provided for the construction of ramp as well as wharf repairs and other related expenses.
The Governor of Palawan (Hon Gov Chavez Alvarez) has also arranged for the specialized roro ferry be bought from Australia and currently undergoing certain modification and sea-trials.
Whilst much efforts has been extended towards selling to and buying from Kudat, we think there is still another missing link which is vital towards ensuring this roro service survive the next Five-years or so.
This link is our Malaysian approval to allow the Philippine vehicles to come through Kudat and for our Malaysian vehicles to drive through the Palawan. The carriage of vehicles represent 40% of the vessel’s gross revenue and without this carriage, the roro service would have tough challenges to stay afloat.
We knew some needful things need to be addressed first like modification of mirrors and insurance matters, and we also hope that all these can be rationalized before the end of November 2015.
Anything you can do to hasten a reply is most appreciated.
